The Vienna Election 2025 is concluded: This is how the Viennese voted in the municipal council election and the district council election:
The results from the individual districts are the preliminary results including the majority of the postal votes. The district council results will only be published after the preliminary final result of the Vienna Election is available and will be continuously updated in the article.
1st District - Innere Stadt (1010 Vienna)
Municipal Council Election Result
In the municipal council election in the Innere Stadt, there was a shift in power: The ÖVP reached 22.1% and suffered a significant loss of 11.8 percentage points, which propelled the SPÖ (30.8%) to first place.
The NEOS made significant gains and reached 16.6%, an increase of 4.7%. The FPÖ also made strong gains and reached 14.6% (+10.1%). The Greens achieved 12.1% and lost 3.2% compared to the last election. The KPÖ improved to 2.6% (+1.3%). The Team HC Strache reached 1.0% (-1.2%) and SÖZ reached 0.1% (-0.1%).
The voter turnout was 66.1%.
District Council Election Result
In the Innere Stadt, the ÖVP remains the strongest party despite significant losses with 36.16%. Compared to the last election, it lost 4.36 percentage points. The SPÖ reached 20.60% and also suffered losses, specifically 2.37 percentage points less than in 2020. The Greens landed in third place with 15.47% and lost 1.91 percentage points.
The NEOS made slight gains and achieved 12.96%, which corresponds to an increase of 1.90 percentage points. The FPÖ recorded significant gains and reached 11.68%, an increase of 6.83 percentage points. The KPÖ also slightly improved to 2.34% (+0.72%). The BESTE list ran for the first time and reached 0.79%.
2nd District - Leopoldstadt (1020 Vienna)
Result of Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Leopoldstadt, the SPÖ remains in first place with 40.9%, but loses 1.6 percentage points compared to the last election. The Greens achieve 21.2% and lose slightly by 0.3%.
The FPÖ makes significant gains and reaches 14.3%, an increase of 9.2%.
The NEOS improve to 9.7% (+2.1%). The ÖVP falls significantly to 6.7% and loses 8.0%.
The KPÖ increases to 5.6% (+2.2%). SÖZ reaches 0.8% (-0.1%) and the HC Strache list comes to 0.7% (-2.1%).
The voter turnout in Leopoldstadt was 60.1%.
Result of District Council Election
In Leopoldstadt, the SPÖ remains clearly at the top in the district council election with 33.93%, but loses 1.45 percentage points compared to 2020. The Greens hold on to second place with 29.57%, but also have to accept a slight decline of 0.99 percentage points. The ÖVP loses significantly and only reaches 6.45%, a decrease of 5.99 percentage points.
The FPÖ, on the other hand, can make strong gains and reaches 12.73%, an increase of 7.70%. The NEOS also improve and reach 8.98%, a gain of 2.35 percentage points. The KPÖ also increases and achieves 6.39% (+1.94%). SÖZ reaches 1.06% (+0.19%), while HC falls to 0.71% and loses 1.56 percentage points. The newly entered list HERZ comes to 0.18%.
3rd District - Landstraße (1030 Vienna)
Result of Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Landstraße, the SPÖ defends its leading position and reaches 39.8%, a slight increase of 0.2 percentage points. The Greens come to 17.8%, but lose 1.4%.
The FPÖ can make significant gains and achieves 14.2%, an increase of 9.2 percentage points. NEOS also improve and reach 12.2%, a gain of 2.8%. The ÖVP must accept significant losses, dropping to 9.9% (-9.2%).
The KPÖ increases to 4.7% (+1.8%). The HC team reaches 0.9% (-1.6%) and SÖZ comes to 0.4% (-0.3%).
The voter turnout was 61.9%.
District Council Election Result
In Landstraße, the SPÖ remains in the lead with 35.66%, but loses 1.36 percentage points compared to the 2020 election. The Greens secure second place with 24.05% and can slightly increase by 0.95 percentage points. The ÖVP loses significantly and only reaches 9.66%, a decrease of 7.41 percentage points. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 12.13%, an increase of 7.40%.
The NEOS also improve and achieve 11.43%, an increase of 2.63 percentage points. The KPÖ reaches 5.38% and thus increases by 1.65%. SÖZ comes to 0.42% (-0.30%), HC achieves 0.92% (-1.36%).
The newly entered lists HERZ (0.15%) and FREIE (0.20%) remain below the one percent mark.
4th District - Wieden (1040 Vienna)
Municipal Council Election Result
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Wieden, the SPÖ reaches 36.5% and can slightly increase by 0.9 percentage points. The Greens achieve 21.1% and lose 1.2%.
The NEOS improve significantly to 14.3%, an increase of 3.7%. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 12.1%, a gain of 8.2 percentage points. The ÖVP plummets to 10.8% and loses 9.8%.
The KPÖ increases to 4.2% (+1.1%), HC reaches 0.6% (-1.4%) and SÖZ comes to 0.3% (-0.1%).
The voter turnout was 65.7%.
District Council Election Result
In the district council elections in Vienna-Wieden, the SPÖ remains the strongest force with 32.05%, but loses slightly by 1.18 percentage points compared to the last election. The Greens follow in second place with 27.98% and keep their result almost stable (-0.12%).
The ÖVP suffers significant losses and comes to 12.09%, which corresponds to a decrease of 7.70 percentage points. The NEOS achieve 12.37% and thus increase significantly by 3.74 percentage points. The FPÖ can also gain and reaches 10.30%, an increase of 6.86%.
The KPÖ improves to 5.21%, a gain of 1.55 percentage points.
5th District - Margareten (1050 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Margareten, the SPÖ remains at the top with 39.5%, but loses slightly by 1.1 percentage points. The Greens reach 22.4%, an almost stable result with a small decrease of 0.2%.
The FPÖ improves significantly and comes to 13.7%, an increase of 8.9%. NEOS also gain and reach 9.7% (+1.7%). The ÖVP has to accept heavy losses and lands at 7.1% (-7.8%).
The KPÖ increases to 6.2% (+2.4%). HC and SÖZ each achieve 0.7%, with HC losing 1.6% and SÖZ 0.4%.
The voter turnout in Margareten was 60.3%.
Result of the District Council Election
In the district council election in Margareten, there is a change of power: The Greens take the top position with 32.45% of the votes and increase by 4.23 percentage points compared to the last election. The SPÖ, previously in first place, reaches 31.04% and thus loses 4.27 percentage points.
The ÖVP has to accept significant losses and falls back to 6.84% (-7.00%). The FPÖ records strong gains and comes to 11.92% (+7.26%). The NEOS achieve 8.54% and improve by 1.05 percentage points. The KPÖ can also gain and reaches 8.06%, an increase of 2.79%. SÖZ loses slightly to 0.68% (-0.37%), while HC reaches 0.48% and thus loses 1.47 percentage points.
6th District - Mariahilf (1060 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In Mariahilf, the SPÖ improves in the municipal council election to 38.4%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points. The Greens achieve 24.5% and lose 1.5%. The NEOS increase to 11.7% (+2.7%).
The FPÖ reaches 10.1% and gains 6.3 percentage points. The ÖVP falls significantly to 9.0% (-8.2%).
The KPÖ achieves 5.6% (+2.1%). Small parties like HC (0.6%) and SÖZ (0.1%) remain below the one percent mark.
The voter turnout was 65.8%.
District Council Election Result
In the district council election in Mariahilf, the SPÖ can maintain first place with 34.30%, but loses significantly by 2.90 percentage points compared to the 2020 election. The Greens are close behind with 33.14% and improve by 2.71 percentage points. The ÖVP slips to 8.95% and loses 5.92%.
The NEOS reach 8.90% and increase by 1.85 percentage points. The FPÖ can also significantly increase and achieves 8.60% (+5.02%). The KPÖ also improves and reaches 6.13%, which corresponds to an increase of 2.32 percentage points.
7th District - Neubau (1070 Vienna)
Municipal Council Election Result
In Vienna-Neubau, the SPÖ secures 36.9% of the votes in the municipal council election and gains 2.6 percentage points. The Greens land in second place with 27.6%, but slightly lose 2.1%. The NEOS can increase and reach 12.5% (+2.5%).
The FPÖ achieves 9.0%, which means a gain of 5.7 percentage points. The ÖVP slips to 7.5% and loses significantly by 7.7%. The KPÖ improves to 6.0% (+1.8%). Smaller parties like HC (0.4%, -0.9%) and SÖZ (0.0%, -0.3%) play hardly any role.
The voter turnout was 69.2%.
District Council Election Result
In Vienna-Neubau, the Greens clearly remain in first place and further expand their lead. With 48.13% of the votes, they increase by 3.22 percentage points compared to the last election. The SPÖ reaches 20.40% and remains nearly stable (-0.20%). The ÖVP loses significantly and comes to 7.68%, a decrease of 6.04 percentage points. The NEOS achieve 9.30% and improve by 1.43%. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 7.50% (+4.52%).
The KPÖ also gains votes and comes to 6.58%, an increase of 1.82%. The VOLT list ran again and comes to 0.39% (+0.08%).
8th District - Josefstadt (1080 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Josefstadt, the SPÖ can significantly increase and reaches 35.9%, a plus of 3.0 percentage points. The Greens come to 22.4%, but lose 1.9%.
The NEOS increase to 14.0% and gain 3.1 percentage points. The ÖVP loses significantly and only reaches 11.9% (-9.1%). The FPÖ also gains and reaches 10.6%, an increase of 6.9%.
The KPÖ improves to 4.6% (+0.8%), the Team HC Strache reaches 0.6% (-0.9%), and SÖZ remains at 0.0% (-0.2%).
Voter turnout in Josefstadt was comparatively high at 72.7%.
Result of the District Council Election
In the district council election in Josefstadt, the Greens can significantly expand their leading position. With 44.13% of the votes, they increase by 10.54 percentage points and clearly expand their lead. The SPÖ remains in second place with 18.23%, losing slightly by 0.35 percentage points.
The ÖVP plummets and only reaches 16.03%, a decrease of 14.52%. The NEOS achieve 9.50% and increase by 2.25 percentage points. The FPÖ can also record gains and comes to 7.44% (+4.04%). The KPÖ reaches 4.67%, which corresponds to a slight increase of 0.66 percentage points.
9th District - Alsergrund (1090 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Alsergrund, the SPÖ can significantly increase its share to 37.6% and gains 2.3 percentage points. The Greens achieve 21.8% and lose 2.2% compared to the last Vienna election.
The NEOS increase their result to 13.7% (+2.7%). The FPÖ also improves significantly to 10.9% (+7.1%), while the ÖVP loses a lot of ground and only reaches 10.2% (-9.0%).
The KPÖ slightly increases to 5.2% (+1.8%). The HC party reaches 0.7% (-0.8%) and SÖZ achieves 0.0% (-0.3%).
The voter turnout was 66.5%.
Result of the District Council Election
In the district council election in the 9th district, Alsergrund, the SPÖ achieves a significant gain: it reaches 34.70% and improves by 3.25 percentage points compared to 2020. The Greens land in second place with 27.48%, but lose 1.73 percentage points.
The ÖVP suffers heavy losses and falls back to 10.42% (-7.90%). The NEOS achieve 11.49% and gain 1.92 percentage points. The FPÖ can also make significant gains and reaches 9.06% (+5.40%).
The KPÖ improves to 5.69% (+1.31%). New on the ballot was the DWA list, which comes in at 0.64%. The HC party reaches 0.52% and loses 0.74 percentage points.
10th District - Favoriten (1100 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Favoriten, the SPÖ remains the clear strongest force with 43.0%, but loses 5.4 percentage points compared to the last Vienna election. The FPÖ makes significant gains and reaches 27.5%, an increase of 18.0 percentage points. The ÖVP falls back to 8.1% and loses 10.6%.
The Greens achieve 7.9% and remain largely stable (-0.3%). NEOS improve to 6.2%, a gain of 1.7 percentage points. The KPÖ can also make gains and reaches 3.4% (+2.1%).
SÖZ comes in at 2.4% (-0.7%), while the Team HC Strache drops to 1.3% (-3.2%). HERZ enters the race for the first time and achieves 0.2%.
The voter turnout in Favoriten was 53.3%.
District Council Election Result
In the district council election in Favoriten, the SPÖ remains clearly in first place with 42.25%, but must accept significant losses of 5.15 percentage points. The FPÖ secures second place with 26.74%, a strong increase of 16.22 percentage points. The ÖVP falls significantly back and lands in fourth place with only 8.31% (-9.69%).
The Greens reach 8.62% and lose slightly by 0.36%. The NEOS achieve 5.79% and improve by 1.64 percentage points. The KPÖ increases to 3.97%, a plus of 2.40%. SÖZ comes to 2.45% (-0.72%), while Team HC loses 3.03 percentage points with 1.29%. HERZ (0.22%) and POSCH (0.37%) ran for the first time, each remaining below the one percent mark.
11th District - Simmering (1110 Vienna)
Municipal Council Election Result
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Simmering, the SPÖ remains the strongest force with 42.8%, but loses 3.8 percentage points compared to the last election. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 33.8%, a strong increase of 18.9 percentage points.
The ÖVP comes to 6.3% and suffers significant losses of 10.9%. The Greens reach 5.9% and lose slightly by 0.8 percentage points. The NEOS improve to 5.5% and gain 1.3 percentage points.
The KPÖ also increases slightly and comes to 2.9% (+1.7%). SÖZ reaches 1.5% (-0.5%) and HC 1.4% (-3.2%).
The voter turnout in Simmering was 52.8%.
District Council Election Result
In Vienna-Simmering, the SPÖ can maintain its leading position and reaches 42.20%. Compared to the last election, this means a slight increase of 0.71 percentage points. The FPÖ follows in second place with 35.97% and gains significantly by 7.53 percentage points. The ÖVP loses significantly and only reaches 5.38% (-5.92%).
The Greens achieve 6.62%, which corresponds to a slight decrease of 0.10 percentage points. The NEOS achieve 4.40% and improve by 0.87%. The KPÖ increases to 2.72% (+1.62%).
The HC party reaches 1.17% (-1.82%) and SÖZ comes to 1.55% (-0.57%).
12th District - Meidling (1120 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in the district of Meidling, the SPÖ remains clearly the strongest party with 42.1%, but loses 2.7 percentage points compared to the last election. The FPÖ can make significant gains and reaches 20.1%, which corresponds to an increase of 13.1 percentage points.
The Greens achieve 13.8% and remain almost unchanged (+0.1%). NEOS improve their result to 8.5% (+2.1%). The ÖVP suffers significant losses, dropping to 8.3%, a decrease of 10.4 percentage points.
The KPÖ increases to 4.5% and gains 2.4 percentage points. Small parties like SÖZ (1.4%, -0.3%) and HC (1.2%, -2.4%) remain below the two percent mark.
The voter turnout in Meidling was 55.6%.
Result of the District Council Election
In the district council election in Vienna-Meidling, the SPÖ remains clearly in first place with 39.08%, but loses 2.92 percentage points compared to the last election. The FPÖ achieves a strong gain with 17.69%, improving significantly by 10.84 percentage points. The Greens reach 16.86% and slightly increase by 0.95%.
The ÖVP suffers massive losses and only reaches 7.83% (-9.02%). The NEOS achieve 7.37% and improve by 1.53%. The KPÖ reaches 5.08% and gains 2.62 percentage points. PH achieves 3.46% (+0.40%), SÖZ 1.36% (-0.41%), and HC 0.98% (-2.23%). The newly entered lists HERZ (0.20%) and LISTR (0.09%) remain below the one percent mark.
13th District - Hietzing (1130 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Hietzing, the SPÖ reaches 31.3% and is now ahead of the ÖVP, which only achieves 18.8% (-13.6%). The FPÖ can gain and reaches 16.4%, an increase of 11.4%. The NEOS also improve significantly to 16.0%, an increase of 4.5%.
The Greens achieve 13.9% and lose slightly by 0.3%. The KPÖ reaches 2.5%, which corresponds to an increase of 1.3 percentage points. The Team HC Strache comes to 1.0% (-1.3%) and SÖZ remains at 0.0% (-0.4%).
The voter turnout in Hietzing was 67.8%.
District Council Election Result
In Vienna-Hietzing, the ÖVP remains the strongest party with 28.04% despite heavy losses. It loses 16.21 percentage points compared to the last election. The SPÖ reaches 23.27% and gains slightly by 0.99%.
The Greens improve significantly to 18.93%, an increase of 3.87 percentage points.
The NEOS achieve 13.60% and gain 4.73 percentage points. The FPÖ also gains significantly and reaches 12.86% (+8.96%). The KPÖ reaches 2.52%, which corresponds to a gain of 1.29 percentage points. The Team HC Strache loses slightly and comes to 0.79% (-0.97%).
14th District - Penzing (1140 Vienna)
Municipal Council Election Result
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Penzing, the SPÖ remains clearly in first place with 38.6%, but loses slightly by 0.6 percentage points. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 18.9%, an increase of 12.4%. The Greens achieve 15.4% and remain almost stable (-0.2%).
The ÖVP drops to 11.0% and loses a significant 12.1 percentage points. The NEOS improve to 10.7% (+2.5%). The KPÖ increases to 3.8% (+2.1%). The Team HC Strache reaches 1.0% (-1.9%) and SÖZ comes to 0.6% (-0.2%).
The voter turnout in Penzing was 63.2%.
District Council Election Result
In the 14th district, the SPÖ remains clearly in first place with 35.58%, but loses 1.36 percentage points compared to the last election. The FPÖ records significant gains and reaches 17.17%, an increase of 10.73%. The Greens maintain their level largely stable with 18.86% and slightly increase by 0.54%.
The ÖVP suffers heavy losses and falls to 12.43% (-11.14%). The NEOS improve significantly to 9.60% (+2.16%). The KPÖ also gains votes and reaches 4.21% (+2.25%). The Team HC Strache achieves 0.80% and loses 1.73%, while SÖZ comes to 0.58% (-0.27%). FAIR, running for the first time, achieves 0.76% of the votes.
15th District - Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus (1150 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, the SPÖ remains in first place with 40.3%, but loses 2.0 percentage points compared to the last election. The Greens reach 21.1% and keep their result almost stable with a minimal loss of 0.1 percentage points.
The FPÖ makes significant gains and reaches 16.0%, an increase of 10.3 percentage points. NEOS improve slightly to 7.2% (+1.3%).
The KPÖ increases to 7.0%, which means a gain of 2.8 percentage points.
The ÖVP loses significantly and reaches 6.6%, a decrease of 7.5%. SÖZ achieves 1.2% (-0.6%) and HC 0.7% (-2.2%).
The voter turnout in Vienna-Rudolfsheim was 55.7%.
Result of the District Council Election
In the district council election in Vienna-Rudolfsheim, the SPÖ remains the strongest party with 35.46%, but loses 3.07 percentage points compared to the 2020 election. The Greens improve significantly and reach 26.61%, an increase of 2.72%. The FPÖ also makes strong gains and reaches 14.27%, which corresponds to a gain of 8.15 percentage points.
The ÖVP loses significantly and only reaches 6.45% (-6.95%). The NEOS achieve 6.27% and improve slightly by 0.78%. The KPÖ can make strong gains with 8.82% and wins 3.11 percentage points. SÖZ loses slightly to 1.11% (-0.77%) and HC falls back to 0.62% (-2.00%). The newly running lists HERZ and PDA each achieve 0.20%.
16th District - Ottakring (1160 Vienna)
Result of Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Ottakring, the SPÖ remains clearly in the lead with 39.4%, but loses 2.3 percentage points compared to the last election. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 18.1%, an increase of 12.0%. The Greens remain stable at 18.0% (+0.1%).
The ÖVP loses significantly and falls to 8.5% (-9.4%). NEOS improve slightly to 8.3% (+1.7%). The KPÖ increases to 5.6% (+2.4%). SÖZ comes to 1.2% (-0.7%) and HC reaches 0.9% (-2.2%).
The voter turnout in Ottakring was 59.1%.
Result of District Council Election
In the district council election in Ottakring, the SPÖ remains in first place with 37.40%, but loses 1.63 percentage points compared to the last election. The Greens hold their result almost stable with 20.56% and slightly increase by 0.55%. The FPÖ can significantly increase and reaches 16.38%, a plus of 10.36 percentage points.
The ÖVP falls significantly with 8.94% and loses 7.89%. The NEOS reach 7.30% and improve by 1.23%. The KPÖ also increases and comes to 7.07% (+2.74%). SÖZ loses slightly to 1.23% (-0.72%), while the HC party falls to 0.91% (-1.91%). The newly entered list HERZ reaches 0.22%.
17th District - Hernals (1170 Vienna)
Result of Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Hernals, the SPÖ remains the strongest force with 35.7%, but loses slightly by 0.7 percentage points. The Greens come to 20.2% and can minimally improve their result by 0.2%.
The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 15.5%, an increase of 10.1 percentage points. The NEOS also improve to 11.6% (+2.6%). The ÖVP loses significantly and lands at 10.3%, a minus of 10.7%. The KPÖ can increase to 5.3% (+2.1%). HC reaches 0.9% (-1.5%) and SÖZ comes to 0.5% (-0.7%).
The voter turnout in the district Hernals was 64.3%.
District Council Election Result
In Vienna-Hernals, the SPÖ remains the strongest party with 31.25%, but loses 1.96 percentage points compared to the last election. The Greens improve to 26.33% and gain 2.05 percentage points. The FPÖ makes significant gains, reaching 13.70%, an increase of 8.14%.
The ÖVP drops significantly to 10.25%, losing 9.46%. The NEOS achieve 10.34% and can increase by 2.06 percentage points. The KPÖ also gains, reaching 6.40% (+2.44%). SÖZ slightly loses to 0.57% (-0.67%) and the HC party falls to 0.73% (-1.33%). The newly entered list dbö reaches 0.42%.
18th District - Währing (1180 Vienna)
Municipal Council Election Result
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Währing, the SPÖ gains and reaches 32.3%, an increase of 1.7 percentage points. The Greens come to 21.9%, but slightly lose 1.1%. The NEOS can significantly increase and achieve 15.0% (+3.3%).
The ÖVP falls sharply to 13.9%, which means a decrease of 10.9 percentage points. The FPÖ significantly increases and reaches 12.2% (+8.6%). The KPÖ improves to 4.0% (+1.5%). HC comes to 0.5% (-1.3%) and SÖZ achieves 0.2% (-0.3%).
The voter turnout was 69.5%.
District Council Election Result
In the district council election in the 18th district, Währing, the Greens can further expand their leading position. They reach 43.03% of the votes, gaining 4.33 percentage points. The ÖVP follows with 17.85%, but significantly loses 9.63 percentage points compared to the last election.
The SPÖ comes to 15.49% and loses 2.37%. The NEOS achieve 10.02% and improve by 1.95%. The FPÖ makes significant gains, reaching 9.04% (+6.30%). The KPÖ improves to 3.66% (+1.52%). The Team HC Strache slightly loses and lands at 0.30% (-0.94%). The newly entered list WFW reaches 0.62%.
19th District - Döbling (1190 Vienna)
Result of the Municipal Council Election
In the municipal council election in Vienna-Döbling, the SPÖ remains the strongest party with 34.7%, but loses slightly by 0.3 percentage points compared to the last election. The ÖVP drops significantly to 17.9%, a decrease of 11.7%. The FPÖ gains significantly and reaches 16.8%, an increase of 11.3 percentage points.
The NEOS also improve significantly and achieve 15.0% (+4.3%). The Greens reach 11.8%, but lose 1.5%. The KPÖ increases to 2.9% (+1.5%). HC reaches 0.9% (-1.6%) and SÖZ achieves 0.0% (-0.6%).
The voter turnout in Döbling was 65.1%.
Result of the District Council Election
