In the morning of June 10, 2025, the volunteer fire department of Baden-Stadt was alerted to an animal rescue at the Schwechat near the Pergersteg. A fox was observed wandering around the area of the river.

Upon arrival, the emergency services were already briefed on the situation by the city police. A young fox was aimlessly wandering in the riverbed of the Schwechat and could not find a way out of its predicament. Equipped with waders and a small animal carrying basket, the fox, which was hiding in a wall niche, was captured using an animal catching loop. Once the frightened fox was safely in the basket, it was lifted up with a rope.

Fox Rescued

The wild animal was taken by the fire department to the Veterinary Center Teesdorf, which took care of everything else. After about an hour, the operation could be concluded. We thank the city police of Baden for the usual good cooperation. More information can be found here:  www.ffbs.at
