Last Saturday, two e-scooter focus actions in Vienna led to numerous reports.

Four of the stopped drivers were under the influence of drugs, one of them had, in addition to cocaine, a larger amount of potency drugs with him. Targeted checks of delivery vans and trucks were also carried out in view of the increased pre-Christmas traffic, reported the Magistrate's Directorate/Immediate Measures Group in a release on Monday.

The Immediate Measures Group conducted the investigations together with the Vienna police and the responsible municipal departments in the Vienna city area. As part of an e-scooter action at two locations, e-vehicles, particularly food delivery services, were checked. The focus was on compliance with the maximum speed limit, the driving ban on the Inner Mariahilfer Street, and the technical condition of the vehicles.

13 "Tuned" Vehicles in Vienna

About 13 "tuned" vehicles were stopped, with maximum speeds of up to 52 km/h. A total of 24 reports and 93 on-the-spot fines were issued, including 19 expedited court notices with a total amount of 11,980 euros. During the checks of delivery vans and trucks, three license plates were confiscated. Additionally, 34 serious technical defects were found, including missing lighting, faulty brakes, and significant bodywork defects.

"Especially in the dense pre-Christmas traffic, massive speeding and driving under the influence of drugs are absolutely reckless," said Walter Hillerer, head of the Immediate Measures Group.
