On Tuesday evening, the Laxenburg Volunteer Fire Department was called to a large animal rescue in Schwechat.

In a horse stable, a horse fell into an assembly shaft with a depth of about 1.50 meters. Upon arrival of the Laxenburg Volunteer Fire Department, the injured animal was already being cared for by present veterinarians and sedated for rescue.

Horse Died After Animal Rescue

The Volunteer Fire Department in Schwechat received support from the FF Laxenburg with special equipment for the rescue of large animals. After attaching two lifting straps, the injured horse, after the roof was removed, could be freed from its predicament with a crane from the swap body vehicle of the FF Schwechat. Despite the intensive efforts of all involved forces, the stallion unfortunately died shortly after the rescue operation. The volunteer fire departments from Schwechat and Laxenburg were in operation with several vehicles for around 90 minutes.
