Two bulls broke out of their enclosure in Grieselstein on Monday morning and had to be recaptured by the police.

One of the 250-kilogram animals got stuck in the mud in a stream bed during its escape and was recovered with a crane truck. The bulls and the officers were unharmed during the operation, the state police department reported.

The cattle broke out around 9:00 a.m. and started marching. The owner immediately notified the police and asked other farmers for assistance. One bull was found quite quickly, but it ran away and ended up in the stream bed. A crane truck had to be organized to recover it.

During the recovery, two walkers also reported sighting the second animal. It had become entangled in a two-meter-deep ditch in the undergrowth. It was eventually recovered with ropes and a wheel loader, according to the release.
