On Wednesday, a fire at a waste recycling and disposal company in the industrial center NÖ Süd in Laxenburg, in the Lower Austrian district of Mödling, required the efforts of seven fire departments with over 100 volunteers.

According to the helpers, a scrap heap with an area of about 1,000 square meters was burning on the company premises directly on the Südautobahn (A2).

The fire broke out in the afternoon. The operation continued into the evening hours. Firefighting was carried out using two aerial rescue devices, water cannons, and several hoses. The firefighters wore self-contained breathing apparatus, reported the district command Mödling. Material was removed with two grab excavators to be extinguished afterward. A drone with a thermal imaging camera was also deployed at the scene for situation management.
